Hot Roddy Patio Infrared Heater IP34 650/1300 / 2000W Black

With the Hot Roddy infrared heater from blumfeldt, you can enjoy social gatherings or cosy evenings on the terrace or in the garden at any time of the year. Gone are the days when you could only sit outside with a red runny nose and wrapped in thick blankets as soon as summer was over, because the Hot Roddy patio heater keeps you warm - even on the coldest days.

Based on the heat requirement, the heating element generates up to 2000 watts of power in three stages and can cover an area of up to 40 m² with cosy warmth. Depending on the selected level, up to three quartz tubes generate the desired heat in the medium and long-wave infrared range. In contrast to normal fan heaters, the infrared radiation with IR ComfortHeat does not heat the ambient air, but rather the illuminated objects, which then release the heat into the environment. This creates a pleasant all-round warmth in no time at all. In addition, the infrared tubes spread a soft red light, which provides additional comfort.

The infrared heater can be optimally aligned so that the heat arrives exactly where it is needed. On the one hand, the telescopic foot can be extended by up to 34 cm. On the other hand, the heating element itself can be tilted at an angle of 45 ° so that the heat is emitted either from the side or from above. In addition, the heating element can be rotated on the stand without having to move the entire heater.

An extra-wide base plate, which is also weighted down, ensures a secure stance. Thus, the blumfeldt free-standing heater remains in place, even in the event of accidental collisions. A safety switch deactivates the device if it should for some reason unexpectedly tip over and only reactivates it when the heater is upright again. The Hot Roddy is suitable for outdoor use, as its electrical system is IP34 protected against splashing water on all sides. In addition, the black powder coating protects the metal parts from corrosion and scratches.

Please note: This device is intended for outdoor use only.

Practical for occasional use In my opinion, the radiant heater is a kind of mixture of a changing table heater and a patio heater for the garden and I find it particularly practical for sporadic use because it is portable and, in contrast to the so-called patio heaters, can be operated with normal household electricity and no gas cartridge is required. Personally, I don't like it as a changing table heater for the children's room from a purely visual point of view, partly because I prefer wall-mounted units and, above all, white as the color, which is just my own personal taste. But wherever you can't mount it firmly for some reason, this is certainly an alternative, especially since the part is supposed to switch off if it tips over, which I haven't tried. For the garden it is currently completely sufficient for our purposes and I prefer this variant with electricity, among other things, because the spotlight is easy to handle for me as a woman, as it is relatively light.

I've been looking for a way to use my terrace on colder evenings for a long time. That's how I became aware of the radiant heater with Nightligth. It is clear that it does not heat the entire terrace, but it is nice and warm and cozy nearby and it also offers beautiful, romantic light on mild winter evenings. All in all a great device that will probably be used more often in the near future as it is slowly getting colder and winter may be moving in soon. The workmanship of the device is good, no sharp edges or paint defects, it is quicker to assemble and can then be stowed away again for the next winter to save space. Thumbs up here from me

The DURAMAXX Hot Roddy comes in a large box and is broken down into individual parts. Unfortunately, there were no instructions included, so we just started assembling it. To do this, you must first loosen the screws that are already pre-inserted and screwed on lightly. The lower linkage is attached to the heavy base, then the screws on the upper part are loosened and only now is the holder for the cable attached. Only then are the screws screwed in again. Otherwise the bracket does not go onto the linkage. The radiant heater itself is also attached and fastened with screws. A cord is used at the top to operate it - similar to what used to be the case with fans. You can also activate a small lamp so that you don't have to turn on a large light. The heating power is quite good, we still have to test whether it is really suitable for a changing table - so far the children's room is still being renovated. if necessary, I will report back. The device is certainly a good alternative for the terrace, so that you can still sit outside when there is a slight breeze.

I consider the use as a heating lamp for a changing table with the Shiny Hot Roddy from Duramaxx to be suboptimal and more of a theoretical possibility than a real everyday alternative to wall-mounted radiant heaters for the changing table, which can also be better regulated. I only rate the use as a heater for the terrace/balcony here. Since the balmy summer evenings are now probably a thing of the past for this year, the radiant heater was a good choice here. The heating area is approximately sufficient for the area of 10m2 - 12m2 in front of the device. The assembly was very easy and quick and can easily be done by one person. Personally, I don't find the stand to be shaky at all, as some users have reported here. The part is absolutely stable and secure. The radiant heater is easily operated using a pull-rope switch. Since the maximum consumption of 2000 watts in continuous operation (you definitely need this outside) would only have brought tears of joy to our local supplier's face, I fitted a thermostat switch for the radiant heater, which we use primarily in our party quarry stone cellar in addition to the terrace operation then only ""throws on"" the radiant heater to ""heat"" up to the desired room temperature. This works very well and thus also keeps the consumption within a manageable range. Overall, the radiant heater can be set to 3 heat levels: 650 W, 1300 W or 2000 W. In my opinion, the telescopic rod should be a little stronger, which I personally find to be a bit undersized, although the stand itself is already stable. For a better feeling, however, the diameter should be a little wider.

Insgesamt also ein guter Strahler.

As always, very fast delivery by Amazon. We chose this radiant heater because it is visually appealing, it is super light and quick to set up. The radiant heater is usually on level two. We use it on the patio. After just a few seconds, it radiates great warmth, it can be set to three levels and was our rescue at the topping-out ceremony. My guests loved it! I have to say the device is great. The protective grille is made of stainless steel. The infrared heater can be optimally aligned where you want the heat to go and the foot is also stable due to its weight (see photo) and because it can be extended approx. 30 cm. The heating element can be adjusted. The radiant heater is simply perfect for indoor use at the changing table or outside on the terrace and the price is reasonable. This decision was right! I'll get myself a second one. So all in all a good spotlight.

===Scope of delivery=== *Infrared heater *Instruction manual ===Test=== The heater is well made and I could not find any serious processing errors. The base to which the frame must be attached has a diameter of approx. 51 cm and the adjustable total height with radiant heater is approx. 2.10 m, but the base still offers a secure hold. The assembly of the individual parts was done in about 10 minutes, you only need a Phillips screwdriver. The operation of the radiant heater is very simple, there is only one type of cable to switch through the three different modes, these would be 0: off, 1: light, 2: heating element, 3: light & heating element. The radiant heater can also be rotated and adjusted in angle, just as you need it. It also heats up very quickly and you shouldn't try to wave your fingers around the heating elements or even put something over them to dry! The only thing that bothers me a bit is the enormous power consumption of approx. 1300 watts, but that is probably a matter of opinion, since I only use it occasionally, I can still cope with it, but I still deduct a star for it. Whether you use it as a patio heater or at the changing table is up to you. I use it more often in our bathroom because we only have a small heater there and only when it's really cold. Overall I am satisfied with the spotlight, but there are also alternatives that can be mounted on the wall, but this is mobile. ===Positives=== *Good workmanship *Easy to use *Fast heating phase *Three modes to choose from *Light and heating element can be used separately *Stable design ===Negatives=== *High power consumption ===Conclusion=== On Good radiant heater with a lot of power but also high power consumption, but still within limits for me due to the occasional use. ###If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments, I will try to answer them as soon as possible###

DURAMAXX Shiny Hot Roddy changing table heater It takes hours for the heating to warm up our bathroom in winter, which is expensive and that's why I was looking for an alternative here. This heater is ideal for such purposes, can also be used over the changing table, on the balcony or just in the bathroom. This is quickly put together, I don't find any instructions for this and was ready here within a few minutes. It is black, provided with a fairly large and heavy stand so that it cannot tip over. At the top there is the oval heater with the heating rods, plus a cord to switch on/off and switch on the heat level, which is quick and easy. The power cable is long here, and it even has clamps on the rod so that it doesn't hang around and be pulled by children Due to the connection with the power plug, our weak circuit does not get a short circuit, which is quite good and I set the heater to 2, so that our bathroom quickly warms up for showering or even bathing. The heating rods quickly turn red and distribute the heat within minutes, so that it is absolutely warm in the bathroom and we can switch it off again immediately. This has good heat distribution, which we find amazing. The 1300 watts are noticeable, the electricity costs do not climb so high here, which is a nice plus and we like to use it. It is adjustable in height, and the spotlight itself can also be tilted as required, but should not come too close to people. The base is quite big here, but it ensures the perfect stand so that it does not tip over if a child pulls on the cable, which is absolutely safe. Everything here has also been well processed, the housing does not melt, does not come loose on any This is where the on/off cord won't break off with normal use.

The Hot Roddy is delivered in a box and must be assembled. It's actually quite easy, but it doesn't seem so easy for someone with two left hands. Especially since we didn't have any instructions in the box, although according to the scope of delivery they should be included. I can't judge whether the problem is a one-off or whether it was generally forgotten in a whole batch. However, if you think about it carefully, you can assemble it without instructions. Simply loosen the screws and plug them together. 10 minutes, if at all, including the first search for the instructions for assembly. Plug into the socket and the radiant heater can be used. What I find a pity is that it is operated with a cord, similar to the radiant heaters for changing tables. You have to pull very carefully here so that it doesn't tip over, as I find the radiator a bit wobbly. Also, I'm always scared of tearing such a thin cord. The heat output is great and we currently have the radiator in our baby room to warm our offspring after the bath bucket. He likes it very much and it heats up very quickly. Already after 5 seconds you notice the first warmth. The Hot Roddy was made available to us for testing. That doesn't affect my opinion.

For test purposes I got the DURAMAXX Shiny Hot Roddy changing table heater infrared lamp quartz 1300W I love my balcony and that's why I like to sit outside with a cup of coffee, a good book, with friends etc. in the evening and enjoy the fresh air. It was therefore very convenient for me to get the DURAMAXX Shiny Hot Roddy changing table heater with infrared lamp quartz 1300W to test. Of course it should be a changing table heater, but you can also use it for heating or preheating, so why not for my balcony. So I waited for the delivery, when the package finally came I was amazed at the width of the package and the weight. The package was packed so well that nothing was damaged. When unpacking everything was very well secured and you had to undo a lot of tape to get to the individual parts. The assembly looks a little confusing at first, but you don't have to have an instruction manual, which is even in German. First you take the base plate, briefly put the foot of the rod on to see which four screws you have to loosen. Once you have loosened these screws, you put the foot of the rod on and screw it to the base plate. Then you take the cover and put it over the bar with the wide side down. Once you have done that, you can attach the other two rods by first loosening the screws, putting the rod on top of the other and making sure the holes match. Then put the screws in and repeat for rod three. The third bar has a lock at the top, you have to loosen it and pull out the inner part of the bar and adjust it to the desired height. If you have this, you can attach the heating element, fix it with the screw and the assembly is perfect. Now you can choose the place to position this radiant heater. I put it in the bathroom to test it. Since I didn't have the heating on yet, it was convenient to know how much it heats. Level 1, a light went on, it is the snooze light and from level 2 the infrared lamps go on. At level 2 it heats up minimally and at level 3 it really heats up. The advantage of these infrared lamps is that exactly what is illuminated gets the full heat. By adjusting the heating element up to 45 degrees, you can heat up precisely. The telescopic rod can be pulled out up to 34 cm if it gets too warm or if you just want the right height. I have him standing on the side where I am sitting and letting the height warm me. The 1300 watts at level 3 are really good and especially with the cold temperatures in the single-digit plus range that we already had, I felt really good. Due to the large base plate and a weight of over 8 kg, the radiant heater stands very securely and wind cannot harm it or cause it to tip over. With the pull cord for level adjustment, you don't even have to get up to be warmer, or turn it off when it's warm enough. Not everyone has a socket on the balcony or terrace, so you should use an extension cord, because the cord of the radiant heater is not long enough to bridge long distances. Important and you should always keep this in mind, you should not use the radiant heater in the rain unless it is dry. If you are not on the balcony or terrace for a long time, you should switch off the radiant heater, because it is supposed to warm you up, not use up unnecessary electricity. All in all, the DURAMAXX Shiny Hot Roddy changing table heater with infrared lamp quartz 1300W really convinced me. The structure is very simple, the stability is given and it warms up really well. Due to its versatile application possibilities, it is suitable for all occasions. Whether changing table, balcony or terrace or just to have some light. In addition, there is the high quality

Ein Umkippen is

In the past, when we make ourselves comfortable in the evening and end the day with a glass of wine, we sometimes had a jacket and one or two blankets with us that we threw over our legs, since it was already evening has become noticeably cold. For this reason we have ordered the radiant heater from Duramax. The first impression The radiant heater arrived in a sturdy box and each part was well packed. Scope of delivery The scope of delivery includes • Radiant heater assembly set consisting of 3 metal tubes, the base and the actual heating element • 2 cable fasteners • Operating/assembly instructions (GER/ENG) Construction The construction is simple and quick. First you start with the metal base – but beware! It's pretty heavy! Now the first metal tube is inserted into the foot and screwed tight. Next comes the cover cap, which covers the lower screw connection and thus ensures a clean and beautiful finish. Now you simply mount the last two metal tubes on top of each other. The last metal tube contains the telescopic rod for height adjustment. Now only the radiant heater is mounted. This is pressed in at the top until it audibly snaps into place. Now he's bombproof. By the way: The necessary screws are already on the metal tubes. These only have to be loosened and everything can be screwed on again after connecting. Description The patio heater is black in color. The material consists of metal and has been provided with a powder coating, which makes the device quite resistant. The heater itself has an oval shape. Inside there are two heating elements protected by a grid. How it works The patio heater has a simple and uncomplicated control element. Since the heating head is movable, it can be aligned in any desired direction. The telescopic pole makes it even more effective. So you can set the thermal radiation higher or lower, depending on how it is needed. The device has 3 power levels, which can all be combined with each other and are operated via the pull cord. • Power level 0: device is off • Power level 1: light (has the luminosity of approx. 25 watts) • Power level 2: heating • Power level 3: Combined 1 and 2 (heating and light) Quality and heating power The quality and heating power is very good . The processing is convincing. The tubes are all very well made and the corresponding holes were made precisely so that every screw fits perfectly. The heating power actually extends over 15 m² and even more if you leave the heater on the lower part of the telescopic rod. The patio heater in practice I celebrated my birthday last weekend and it got quite chilly in the evening. In order to be outside in the evening, we set up the radiant heater and almost all of my guests were on the terrace! It is already very warm in the immediate vicinity, but the further away you go, the more pleasant it becomes. A cozy warmth without being intrusive or uncomfortable. Even when I switched on the light later, it was really very nice and cozy. The light shines relatively far, further than the heat reaches and thus also illuminated part of the garden. By tilting the beam head, you can tilt both the heat and the light as you want and need. Key data • Size: approx. 170 cm to 200 cm (H) • Weight: approx. 8 kg • Length of the power cable: 180 cm • Colour: black • Heating head can be tilted up to 45 degrees Safety Great importance was attached to safety here and so is located a so-called Tilt motion safety switch on unit. This causes the device to switch off immediately if it tips over. A tip over is

The delivery was quick and the goods arrived undamaged. The scope of delivery included: 1 heating element and several parts for self-assembly of the stand 1 spare bulb 1 set of instructions Taking pictures and reading the instructions took about 15 minutes to set up. I set up the device myself. The dimensions are approx. 52 x 177-211 cm (ØxH) and the heating element approx. 1 x 38 cm (ØxH). The device is black. The heat is generated by two quartz heating tubes in the infrared range. When building, you work your way up from the bottom up. The screws that are mentioned in the instructions are already pre-screwed in the base and in the rods. So you have to unscrew them again to be able to do the assembly. The tripod can still be extended upwards, the lower rods are screwed tight. The heating element itself has a tilt angle of 45 degrees. When I set up the radiant heater, I was amazed at how big it is and how wide the base is with its 50 cm diameter. So the whole device is absolutely robust and stable. There are also rings that are used as cable guides. The cable itself could have been a bit longer at 1.8 meters. You can of course use a cable extension. The radiant heater can be carried around and is therefore flexible with the locations. Whether indoors or outdoors, you can use it anywhere. Especially now that it's colder in the evenings on the terrace, it's very pleasant if you still like to sit outside. The device is also wonderfully suitable for the changing table because it can be adjusted. Normally, many radiant heaters are fixed to the wall and are not very flexible. This radiant heater can also be adjusted up or down, but not sideways, for this you have to turn the stand. The operation is also quite simple. On the left side of the heating element there is a thin cord that you simply have to pull. There are 3 levels that can be set. A number below the heating element shows which level you are currently at. You have to draw until you have reached the desired heating level or you just want to switch off. If you leave a heating level on and then pull the plug, the device automatically switches on again at this level. A radio-controlled socket that is operated with a remote control can be useful for such settings. This saves you having to constantly pull the plug out of the socket. The heating element has 1300 watts and heats up quite quickly. In addition, there is also a small white bulb in the radiant heater, which lights up on levels 1 and 3. At level 2 it is off. The radiant heaters have nothing to do with it, they always come on. This is useful if you don't want to be blinded. Or if you want some additional light, e.g. B. when changing the child. I would highly recommend this heater. The price-performance ratio is in order. I would like to give full marks. I received the DURAMAXX Shiny Hot Roddy changing table heater infrared lamp quartz 1300W free of charge as part of a product test.

The infrared heating system is high-performance, efficient and allows for cost savings compared to traditional heating with gas-powered radiators or traditional resistance heaters. This infrared floor lamp from Duramaxx is really stable, elegant and practical to use. Now I'm using it instead of any other heating system. It can also be used outdoors, as long as it is placed in a fairly sheltered place, for example under a veranda. In fact, it has the IPX4 certified degree of protection (ie casing protected against water splashes). Personally, however, I use it with full satisfaction (I would say like our former President ...:))" it is with lively and vibrant satisfaction ...") inside the house where I need to have good heating in a fairly delimited place and time periods rather limited, for example in the bathroom or bedroom. Quickly and well heats a room of about 20 square meters. It has exceptional power, already at the first power level you have to stay at least 1.5 m apart otherwise the heat is too strong! It has three power levels (650W / 1300W / 2000W), but considering how much it heats already at the first level, it is difficult to use it at maximum power. As I have already mentioned, the base is very solid and stable and the risk of inadvertently overturning the floor lamp is quite remote. Even though infrared rays are actually invisible to the human eye, this lamp produces a pleasant, soft red light. “Incidentally, according to chromotherapy this color would be useful in cases of depression, colds, sore throat, chronic cough and asthma, in the treatment of partial and total paralysis, or in the treatment of male impotence. However, it is not recommended in cases of hyperemotivity and hypertension or tachycardia. The color red is recommended when you lack the strength to think and to feel emotions or you are not involved enough and do not engage in family life, when you are too tired, apathetic or your blood pressure is low” source: natural-cures. it The lamp in question has a safety switch for rapid shutdown in the event of a fall. The peculiarity of heating using infrared rays (electromagnetic waves of a particular wavelength of the light spectrum) lies in the fact that it does not directly heat the air , as occurs in traditional heating with radiators, but the objects and bodies with which it comes into contact. This already shows the greater efficiency compared to traditional forms of heating and the considerable savings in energy consumption as well as ideal comfort conditions for humans. The heat waves that heat the upper part of the wall, the floor and the ceiling are absorbed by the walls of the rooms where the panel is installed and this energy is largely re-radiated into the room, creating a comfortable temperature. With infrared heating, a step is therefore eliminated as the rays directly heat people and objects without heating the air. There are many advantages compared to traditional heating as no air movement is created, no dust is produced, no mold formation, dry air, condensation in the walls, soot or any harmful emissions are caused. It is also an absolutely silent system. The only weakness of this new technology is that it is a directional type of heating and not a "360 degree". This means that you feel more or less heat depending on whether or not you are within the range of radiation, resulting in a possible non-homogeneous perception of heat. In a way it's a bit like being within the “range” of a fireplace. The advantage of having the infrared panel in the

An infrared heating stand that I didn't know existed. I knew the standard bathroom versions, the bedroom ones and even the roof ones. Unfortunately these, in addition to being uncomfortable, are perfectly useless in the case of high roofs. When I got to receive a test sample to be able to review it impartially, I didn't think twice. Result? This floor lamp solved two problems for me: the one relating to bathing the children and the one for sleeping in the cot. In the first case, until now we have risked big because in the absence of anything else we had to keep the classic ""bathtub"" near the bath, with the risk that a few drops of water could cause a nice short circuit. Furthermore, once the bath was over, as the changing table was placed high up, we didn't know where to place it, ending up putting it too close. In the second case, to avoid them freezing during the night, we placed an oil stove between the cradles but the result was to heat mainly the sides of the cradles...so it was perfectly useless. Once the floor lamp was discovered, a world opened up: for the bath, even positioned far enough away, it radiates a perfect heat to keep children warm even in their bathrobes, without the risk of splashes being between one and seventy meters tall and over two meters ...and even if it were, it is IPX4 certified, i.e. protected from a few drops of water. In the bedroom, being easily movable, placed at maximum height it radiates a warmth that is perfect for children, not to mention the light function that allows it to be used even while falling asleep (otherwise it would make me bald by setting fire to my hair, given that I'm exactly under the lamp). Another welcome aspect is the maximum 1300W, given that in 90% of cases there are appliances that go from 1000 (a little) to 2000 (too much) without intermediate degrees. The base is solid enough not to convey anxiety related to the fact that it could roll over. However, for safety, I placed the floor lamp so that the base is blocked by the cradles, making it impossible to fall (the rod should break but I hope this is not our case). The price is not low but if we consider that a 1500W heating system in shopping centers costs 50-60 euros.

Assembled in no time - even by non-technicians. 1 heavy base, 3 rods (which have to be plugged into each other and screwed later). The screws are all already screwed in loosely, so they are not included loosely. So you just have to remove it and screw it back in there. You need a large Phillips head for this. But before you do that, and this is missing from the instructions, you should put the plastic brackets (which will later hold the cable straight at the back) over them. Once the screws are on, the brackets no longer fit over them. The rods come on the base, screw tight. And then screw the "grill head" on top. Complete. The instructions say: ...Ensure that the power supply is connected to a 30mA differential circuit breaker... I had to find out what that meant first. With us, the term FE is more common for residual current circuit breakers or personal protection switches. It prevents electrical accidents (prevents residual current from flowing through a body) and should actually be installed in every house. It has been mandatory for bathrooms since 1984 and for new installations/buildings since 2009. However, there is no obligation to retrofit old buildings! The heater has a pull switch for operation. So 1 x pull on the pendulum = light (although that would be too bright for a night light for me, the luminosity corresponds to about a 25 watt light bulb, so it is enough to comfortably illuminate a room), 2 x pull = heat and 3 x pull = heat + light. Heating is warm within a few seconds. The warmth is pleasant. So you can easily stand in front of it and reach up to a few centimeters in front of it. The heat can be felt nice and warm up to a distance of about 1 meter, after which it weakens. The longer on, the more heating effect there is of course - if it's not outdoors. As far as I know, there is no automatic switch-off after a certain time or when a certain temperature is reached. The head can be easily folded forwards and upwards (45 degrees). The minimum height is about 163 and the maximum height is 2 meters. The instructions are in German and English and basically describe the individual elements, the structure and some warnings (eg that you should not dry your laundry with it). I received this product for free so that I can test and review it like a normal user. I haven't done a long term test with it.

Excellent idea that this heating and illuminating floor lamp. It is delivered to be assembled with a small German/English manual. However it is useless to ask for the French version because the operation is easy. DURAMAXX provides a replacement G9 bulb with a power of 20 Watts. Assembly: From the weighted base, locate the position of the tube with a base on it. These are the 4 screws that are not tight. Then put on the plastic cover and proceed as follows for the other 2 tubes, taking care to slide the electrical wire retaining clamps. You can put the clamps or not, it's up to you. The upper tube is equipped with a tightening collar allowing its extension. Then fit the lamp and tighten the knurled screw. Note, The wall clock that appears in a photo is a Blumfedt Paddington. Use: a 4-position pull tab with indicator. 0: OFF 1: lamp 2: Heating, single level 1300 Watts 3: Heating + Lamp Remarks The heating is efficient and you feel a feeling of well-being. On a large outdoor table, we will choose the 2000 Watt model or better 2 heaters of 1300 Watts. The lamp brings a more obvious. Among the advantages, mobility, efficiency, versatility of use. This heating will be appreciated in a physiotherapy practice or in zone 3 of a bathroom. The announcement indicates an IPX 4 classification which corresponds to water splashes from all directions, however no mention of this type appears on the heating except WATERPROOF. The latter is not recognized by the IEC 60529 standard. Conclusion This electric heater allows great flexibility of use that a gas model does not allow. It exists in 2 versions: 1300 or 2000 Watts. The quartz heating intervenes quickly. The head tilts from 90° to 45°, we would have preferred a more downward orientation for a changing table or in physiotherapy. The 90° position can be used for DIY to dry an object or a painting. We regret the absence of a dimmer for greater versatility. Yet at around 80€ whatever the model, DURAMAXX provides a product that meets the most common expectations. Fine aesthetics, black color promotes assimilation into the decor.
