Buy a greenhouse from blumfeldt

If you have a garden and want to grow your own vegetables, herbs or other plants, you should buy a greenhouse. After all, sensitive plants do not like all kinds of weather, so they can quickly wither in wind, heavy rain, hail or ground frost. But how do greenhouses actually work and what can be planted in them? We have put together the most important tips, information and a planting calendar.

Greenhouse - to protect plants

Many plants are very sensitive to weather. In order for them to grow and thrive optimally, the appropriate types of vegetables, herbs or flowers should be given the right planting accessories. Greenhouses are ideal for this. This way, you can sow your plants in wind and weather as you wish. This extends the gardening season and, at the same time, the harvest. Plants that are sensitive to moisture and cold feel completely at home, and show their thanks with rich growth. With the right vegetable seed, the harvest extends into autumn. Greenhouses come in different shapes and sizes. A greenhouse that is small fits into any garden. It also offers enough flexibility so that it can be set up and rearranged as required.

How do greenhouses work?

If you would like to sow plants in your beds at the beginning of the year in order to be able to harvest in spring, you should opt for a greenhouse attachment. It is slipped over the bed, so that the plants can grow with optimum protection thanks to the PVC covering. The side flap, which can be opened with a zipper, makes it easy to work inside. The frame can be removed when the plants are big enough or when the temperature is comfortable. The sun's rays enter through the plastic windows, causing the interior to heat up. This ensures ideal conditions. Various greenhouse accessories such as plant baskets and plant sponges are also sensible.

What can I grow in a greenhouse?

  • January: Radishes and small radishes
  • End of February: Lettuce, kohlrabi and spinach
  • March: Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, savoy cabbage, pumpkin, peppers, celeriac, leeks and parsley
  • April: Tomatoes, cucumbers, runner beans, spring onions, hot peppers, rosemary, dill, thyme and melons
  • May: Basil, marjoram, sage and oregano
  • June: Onions

Regular cleaning with water and detergent is important to prevent mould and germs from forming. This is recommended to be done at least once a year. Dirty tarpaulins no longer let any light into the interior. They slow down or even worsen the growth of plants.

Summary: greenhouses

A nutrient-rich soil and regular watering alone are not enough for a successful cultivation. The right climate, protection from unfavourable weather conditions and protection from vermin are just as important, so that vegetables, fruit and more can grow in the garden. Greenhouses are the perfect tools. They give you the opportunity to realise your dream of growing your own fruit and vegetables. Tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and much more are among the typical types of vegetables that can thrive here with the right care. The greenhouse effect, also known as the "glass house effect", keeps the greenhouse moist and warm even in winter. Therefore, almost all plants can thrive. Growing seasons can be extended, and thus the harvest times for self-sufficiency increased.
